The National Employment Savings Trust (Nest), the UK's largest Master Trust by members, has chosen Nasdaq eVestment™ to modernise its manager selection and due diligence processes. The partnership represents a step change for Nest, which currently manages over £46 billion in assets across 19 external fund managers.

Nest, a government-backed, defined contribution workplace pension scheme, has experienced substantial growth in recent years and the decision to implement Nasdaq eVestment’s platform aligns with Nest's strategy to enhance its investment capabilities and streamline operations.

The Nasdaq eVestment platform is expected to significantly enhance Nest's asset manager evaluation capabilities, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG). By automating data collection and analysis, Nest's investment team will be able to allocate more resources to critical activities such as manager searches, portfolio construction, and monitoring. This transition is anticipated to result in a more comprehensive and systematic due diligence process.

Aligned with Nest’s commitment to responsible investing, the Nasdaq eVestment platform will provide Nest with data to systematically assess managers' ESG policies, practices, and performance. This capability is crucial in meeting the growing demand for responsibly invested fund options among pension scheme members.

Rachel Farrell, Director of Public and Private Markets at Nest, has been instrumental in championing the need for advanced data and analytics systems. "As our assets under management continue to grow, it's crucial that we have access to robust, efficient tools to support our investment decision-making process," said Farrell.

This partnership reflects a broader industry trend of pension schemes leveraging technology to enhance their investment processes. As the investment landscape becomes increasingly data-driven, platforms such as Nasdaq eVestment are becoming essential tools for institutions managing large-scale pension funds.
