The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Rings the Nasdaq Stock Market Opening Bell
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the largest nonprofit dedicated to ending blood cancer, visits the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square to culminate its 75th year and launch a bold goal for the future: to enable patients with blood cancer to gain more than one million years of life by 2040.
This bold goal, supported by a new organizational strategy, builds on decades of LLS work that is already contributing to longer and better lives for patients with every type of blood cancer all over the world.
In honor of the occasion, E. Anders Kolb, M.D., LLS president and CEO, rings the opening bell, precisely on the day that LLS was founded in New York in 1949.
“Every day, blood cancer patients ring the bell marking milestones in their treatment. Thanks to scientific innovation, patient support and advocacy fueled by LLS over 75 years, today we ring the bell for all blood cancer patients – as we announce our bold goal for the future,” said Dr. Kolb.
Thanks to a gift from The Orokawa Foundation, all donations to LLS on World Cancer Day, Feb. 4, will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $75,000. Donations can be made at: https://givenow.lls.org/.
