GLAAD Rings the Nasdaq Stock Market Opening Bell
GLAAD, the world's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, visits the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square to celebrate #SpiritDay, a day to stand up against bullying in all its forms and to support LGBTQ youth. In honor of the occasion, GLAAD President & CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis, with GLAAD’s staff, members of its Board of Directors, alongside movement leaders in the LGBTQ community supporting LGBTQ youth, ring the Opening Bell. Since the inaugural #SpiritDay in 2010, GLAAD has organized hundreds of celebrities, media outlets, brands, landmarks, sports leagues, faith groups, school districts, organizations, colleges and universities in what has become the most visible anti-LGBTQ bullying campaign and united show of support for LGBTQ youth by going purple and signing the #SpiritDay pledge at GLAAD.org/SpiritDay. Purple also symbolizes spirit on the LGBTQ Pride flag.
