The Week Ahead: Key Jobs, Manufacturing Data to Watch

Investors are gearing up for a packed week of economic reports and major earnings announcements as February begins. Services and manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) readings will take center stage, alongside the latest ADP employment report and speeches from several Federal Reserve presidents.

Earnings season will be going strong, with high-profile names like Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Alphabet (GOOGL), Amazon.com (AMZN), Palantir Technologies (PLTR), Pfizer (PFE), Snap (SNAP), and Uber Technologies  (UBER) set to release quarterly results.

Below is a list of key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All economic dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. 

The week begins on Monday, February 3 with the final U.S. manufacturing PMI for January. Construction spending and auto sales data will provide a broader economic picture as well, while the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) manufacturing index is also slated for release.

On Tuesday, February 4, investors will analyze job openings data and factory orders. Plus, traders will watch remarks from San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly for policy insights.

Wednesday, February 5 features the ADP employment report. Additionally, U.S. trade deficit, the final services PMI for January, and ISM services data will be released as well. Speeches from Richmond Fed President Tom Barkin and Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee could provide additional clarity on the Federal Reserve's outlook.

Key data points for Thursday, February 6 include weekly jobless claims and productivity data.

The week wraps up on Friday, February 7, with the U.S. employment report, including the unemployment rate and hourly wages. Additional reports on wholesale inventories, consumer sentiment, and consumer credit will round out the economic calendar.
