U.S. Markets to Close for Jimmy Carter National Day of Mourning

In observance of a National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter, U.S. stock markets, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq, will close on Thursday, January 9, 2025. 

President Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. 

The NYSE and Nasdaq have a tradition of closing on National Days of Mourning to honor former presidents. This closure allows the nation and financial markets to pay their respects to President Carter's legacy. 

Regular trading will resume on Friday, January 10, 2025. Investors are advised to plan their trading activities accordingly, considering the one-day suspension of operations.
