The Biden administraiton intends to blacklist Chinese chip designer Sophgo after its TSMC (TSM)-made chip was illegally incorporated into a Huawei AI processor, Reuters’ Alexandra Alper and Karen Freifeld report, citing a person familiar with the matter. Sophgo, an affiliate of bitcoin (BTC) mining equipment supplier Bitmain, is currently in the process of being named on the U.S. Commerce Department’s Entity List, the authors note.
