(RTTNews) - Treace Medical Concepts, Inc. (TMCI), a leading innovator in medical technologies for bunion and midfoot deformity treatment, announced on Tuesday the successful completion of its first surgeries utilizing the SpeedAkin Anatomic Compression Implant.
The implant, designed to enhance the company's SpeedPlate fixation platform, provides surgeons with a dynamic titanium compression solution for stabilizing Akin osteotomies, which are commonly performed to correct the great toe in bunion surgeries.
This marks a significant advancement in the treatment of bunion deformities, expanding the versatility of Treace's surgical offerings.
The SpeedAkin implant's anatomical design eliminates the potential risk of nickel allergy reactions associated with traditional nitinol staples. It also supports the healing process with a unique fixation method that complements Treace's existing Lapiplasty and Adductoplasty procedures.
"We're excited to expand our best-in-class bunion-focused portfolio with the SpeedAkin implant, furthering our commitment to improving patient outcomes," said John T. Treace, CEO, Founder, and Board Member of Treace.
Surgeon and design team member Dr. Amber Shane, Department Chair at Advent Health, expressed enthusiasm for the implant's potential, noting its anatomical contoured fixation and benefits in performing frequent Akin osteotomies in bunion corrections.
Treace is positioned to continue revolutionizing the surgical treatment of bunions with the SpeedAkin implant as part of its expanding product line.
Currently, TMCI is trading at $10.30 down by 1.15%.
