SoTM Bull's Eye Report - Today's Most Compelling Buy
Thursday, July 18, 2013
At StateoftheMarkets.com, we strive to "own the best and ignore the rest" in our equity portfolios. Toward this end, each day we search our database for a "top stock" (a top rated company in terms of earnings strength as well as company and industry performance) that presents a strong technical "set up" and a good entry point.
In short, when our equity team is looking to add a stock to one of our portfolios, the "bull's eye" stock shown below is generally their first choice.

Why We Like The Stock:
Swift Transportation Co (SWFT) is our most compelling buy today due to the fact that it is a top rated stock (in terms of earnings strength and company/industry performance) with a positive technical set-up. We featured Avis Budget Group Inc (CAR) yesterday, and SWFT is a very similar stock. Trucking stocks have been solid this year, and SWFT has outperformed competitors like Old Dominion Freight Lines (ODFL), AMERCO (UHAL), and Ryder System Inc (R), posting an +83.05% gain since the beginning of the year. However, just because SWFT has already run some doesn't mean that this stock isn't an attractive buy. SWFT has a great technical setup, and just crossed above its 5- and 10-day moving averages this morning. The stock traded close to on June 10, so there is still some room before resistance for a short-term gain. We also like that SWFT crossed above its 50-day moving average a couple weeks ago and remains operating well above it. We would be buyers of this Trucking stock at current prices for a run back to .We Would Be Buyers:
At the current price (~.99).
