Sensex, Nifty Modestly Higher Led By PSU Stocks; Financials Drift Lower

(RTTNews) - Indian shares were slightly higher in early trade on Wednesday after bouncing back from a four-day losing streak the previous day on signs of easing retail inflation in the country.

The benchmark S&P/BSE Sensex was up 262 points, or 0.3 percent, at 76,761 while the broader NSE Nifty index edged up by 53 points, or 0.2 percent, to 23,228.

Larsen & Toubro, Coal India, Power Grid Corp, Maruti Suzuki India and NTPC were up 2-4 percent in the Nifty pack while Shriram Finance, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj FinServ all fell around 2 percent.

L&T Technology Services was up nearly 2 percent ahead of its earnings release.

Adani Green Energy surged 4.2 percent after commissioning a 57.2 MW wind power component at its wind-solar hybrid project in Khavda, Gujarat.

Vodafone Idea rallied 2.2 percent after it partnered with HCLSoftware to enhance the efficiency of its 4G and 5G networks.

Shoppers Stop soared 6 percent on reporting a 42 percent jump in its Q3 net profit.

Allcargo Gati added 2.1 percent on reporting 8 percent growth in December 2024 volumes.

Premier Energies advanced 1.5 percent on winning new orders worth Rs 1,460 crore.

IRFC gained 1 percent after it emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) to finance Rs 3,167 crore for the development of the Banhardih coal block in Jharkhand.

Larsen & Toubro rose over 1 percent after launching a second multi-purpose vessel for the Indian Navy.
