There have been several major product launches from Nasdaq Corporate Solutions in the last few years, notably Nasdaq IR Insight® and the newly unveiled Nasdaq Boardvantage®. How have these new offerings helped to differentiate the business from its competition?
Our current product offering addresses three corporate functions: investor relations, corporate communications, and the board of directors. Over the last decade we have invested financial and intellectual capital to better understand what intelligence and workflows solutions the C-Suite needs to be successful.
We are always proud when we are ready to roll out a new product, be it Nasdaq IR Insight, the Insight360™ analytics tool or new enhancements to our board portal and collaboration software. But what truly differentiates Nasdaq Corporate Solutions beyond our unique integrated product offering is our investment in innovation and data analytics, relentless focus on our clients, and our global footprint. From our roots within Nasdaq’s exchange listings businesses, we are very proud of the global client base of over 17,000 companies that we’ve built at Corporate Solutions over the past two decades given our work with the majority of the world’s greatest brands and leading companies.
How will the exponential growth of financial technology impact the Corporate Solutions business of Nasdaq?
Technology is in Nasdaq’s DNA and it’s a critical component to the value Corporate Solutions provides our clients. We have made it a priority to lead our various industries in developing the latest technology to provide our clients with new ways to operate successfully.
The launch of Nasdaq IR Insight last year was the first step in synergizing the breadth and depth of our Corporate Solutions offering to streamline how companies engage their external stakeholders. Our recent product announcements, including the launch of Insight360™ and the unveiling of the new Nasdaq Boardvantage, demonstrate our ability to cultivate next-generation technology – particularly in mobile, analytics, and workflow – to provide clients with new ways to help maximize productivity, sharpen decision making, and increase stakeholder engagement.
We are excited about the evolution of this space and proud to be at the center, leading the transformation through research and development and strategic acquisitions.
What is the Corporate Solutions business doing to ensure thatNasdaq is offering first-to-market, innovative products to meet the needs of current and future clients?
We are fortunate to have a tremendous in-house product development team, combined with a robust customer feedback function, which allows us to stay on-top of what our clients’ need and helps us design or add new features to our expansive product suite.
To give you an example: when we launched the mobile app for Nasdaq IR Insight last year, we kept hearing from IROs how they were increasingly on-the-go. We wanted to meet that challenge by bringing a new feature that made the mobile app a go-to resource that was functional and unique. We will be rolling out the IRO-on-the-Go virtual assistant feature for the Nasdaq IR Insight mobile app by year-end. The new voice-enabled features include, meeting organization tools including voice-enabled note capture, and client engagement tools including GPS-enabled directions to offsite meeting locations, complete with nearby parking and restaurant recommendations.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned during your tenure at Nasdaq?
I have worked at Nasdaq for almost 25 years, and have kept track of what I call “career learns” along the way. While it’s hard to pick just one, I would encourage colleagues to set goals and corresponding plans to achieve those goals…also, don’t let anyone tell you that your goals aren’t achievable. If you find yourself in a position where you or your goals are challenged, prove them wrong. Identify mentors on your teams or across the organization to learn and grow. Use these moments as an opportunity to improve so you can achieve your goals.
What are a few things that most people would not know about you?
I grew up in a very close-knit family where my parents compromised their careers to ensure they were present for everything my brother and I did. So when I’m not at work, I really value my time with my family and friends and I make sure my kids are the focal point of my time out of the office. My family is very social and we like to have a lot of fun. Whether it’s cooking out, boating, fishing (I watch while the kids fish…they’re pretty good actually!), tubing, water skiing, camping, sports (lots of sports!), etc. I like to host the holidays and you can always count on me to have a competition built into the festivities. We always have a big crowd and I enjoy seeing people happy and having fun! If I had to pick one thing people don’t know about me, it’s that I wanted to be a “rapper” when I was in high school. You’d probably be shocked at my song library/playlists, although they pretty much run the gamut on genres. Let’s just say I picked the right path in getting a business degree instead of pursuing a career in the entertainment industry!
