Welcome to the 10 am ET mid week emerging markets heat map. Trading is starting off slow with the Emerging Stock index tilted a bit to the downside across the board, but MBT 3.40%, VALE 0.94% and ERJ 0.56% are still in the green.
The large-cap emerging markets stocks in our universe -- think of it as a global version of the Dow industrials -- are flat in early trade:
Turning to the Emerging ETF index, we find the heat map some interesting conditions taking shape. The country ETFs are in the green with RSX (Russia) 0.08%, THD (Thailand) 0.86% and TUR (Turkey) 0.79%.
However, notice all the country boxes are sized small indicating low volume in comparison to GLD -0.04%, which is basically flat but moving huge volume of over 1,521,409 shares in the first 30 minutes of trade.
EEM is also seeing huge volume at 2,675,544. Since both of these are flat there yet to be clear winner in the battle between the bulls and bears.
As you can see from the heat map below, most of the emerging markets ETFs we track are in negative territory this morning:
