(RTTNews) - Bank of Montreal (BMO.TO) released a profit for its first quarter that increased from last year and beat the Street estimates.
The company's earnings came in at C$2.069 billion, or C$2.83 per share. This compares with C$1.250 billion, or C$1.73 per share, last year.
Excluding items, Bank of Montreal reported adjusted earnings of C$2.220 billion or C$3.04 per share for the period.
Analysts on average had expected the company to earn C$2.40 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company's revenue for the period rose 20.8% to C$9.266 billion from C$7.672 billion last year.
