43%of this SPX FLOW, Inc. (NYSE:FLOW) insider's holdings were sold in the last year

Looking at SPX FLOW, Inc.'s (NYSE:FLOW ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net sellers. That is, there were more number of shares sold by insiders than there were purchased.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

SPX FLOW Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Independent Director, Patrick Campbell, sold US$681k worth of shares at a price of US$68.09 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$80.28. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was only 43% of Patrick Campbell's holding. The only individual insider seller over the last year was Patrick Campbell.

Does SPX FLOW Boast High Insider Ownership?

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that SPX FLOW insiders own 1.3% of the company, worth about US$43m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
