USGS earthquake report on New Zealand, initial report via Reuters

Preliminary reports:

  • M5.7 (USGS prelim at 6.3 though ... now 5.6)
  • Depth 2km ... revised to 10 to 15km deep
  • Just off the coast of the north island, 228 km East of Wellington
