Gunilla Hellqvist seeks challenges for growth, and when Nasdaq approached her in 1995 to work in the business area responsible for the fixed income products, she found the company to be innovative and willing to disrupt the status quo.

“Nasdaq stands for innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and is client-focused,” Gunilla said. “For me, these three pillars are what I have in my heart.”

During her more than two-decade career at Nasdaq, Gunilla has worked in fixed income, equities, and is currently the senior vice president of Global Market Operations Management at Nasdaq. In this role, Gunilla, who is based in Stockholm, manages the day-to-day operations of all of the exchanges and the Clearinghouse under Nasdaq, and all of her teams are in daily contact with Nasdaq clients.

“I’ve been lucky,” said Gunilla. “I’ve said I want to make a change or be challenged, and my managers believed in me.”

Gunilla said deep and detailed knowledge of one’s position is critical to growth, and she continues to strive for additional responsibilities as she believes growing oneself is motivating and rewarding. She also acknowledges that teamwork strengthens one’s experience and brings everyone together to achieve a common goal. To her, the word team means together everyone achieves more, which is what she strives for as a manager.
