U.K. public sector net borrowing worsens in September

Investing.com - U.K. public sector finances deteriorated in September, official data showed on Tuesday.

The Office for National Statistics reports that U.K. public sector net borrowing was £11.8 billion in September, up £1.6 billion from the same month last year and compared to £11.0 billion in August.

Analysts had expected the U.K. public sector net borrowing to total £9.2 billion last month.

GBP/USD was trading at 1.6156 from around 1.6162 ahead of the announcement, while EUR/GBP was at 0.7929 from 0.7931 earlier.

Meanwhile, European stock markets were mostly higher. London's FTSE 100 rose 0.5%, the DJ Euro Stoxx 50 inched up 0.55%, France's CAC 40 advanced 0.7%, while Germany's DAX tacked on 0.65%.
