Credit: Shutterstock photoBD Life Sciences - Biosciences, a division of Becton, Dickinson and CompanyBDX or BD, and FlowJo, LLC, jointly announced a strategic partnership to combine the former's cytometry data acquisition software with FlowJo's data analysis platform.
The two companies displayed the integration model at CYTO 2015: the 30th Congress of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry, in Glasgow, Scotland.
The combined software will facilitate uploading of collected data from BD flow cytometers running BD FACSDiva software, directly to FlowJo Enterprise. This will help researchers manage data more effectively.
The collaboration will allow researchers to launch channeled data analysis directly from the instrument with the aid of FlowJo Enterprise. The direct upload will link flow cytometry data acquisition to final results and reports, without any hiccups, thus delivering finer customer and research experience.
In the last reported quarter, revenues from BD Life Sciences declined 0.9% on a year-over-year basis to $946 million. We believe the recent contract win should help boost the division's sales, thereby improving the overall prospects of the company.
BD, of late, has been quite active with respect to signing partnership deals. Earlier this month, the company announced a strategic alliance with medical device major Medtronic MDT . Per the terms of the deal, the two companies will jointly launch a novel insulin pump infusion set that incorporates the unique BD FlowSmart technology. BD will manufacture the infusion set while Medtronic will be responsible for its commercial distribution.
